2. Materials and Supplies for Sewing Dolls and Soft Toys
Starting to sew dolls and soft toys, you need to prepare some materials and tools for making toy softies. Here is my list
Materials for sewing Soft Toys and Cloth Dolls
- Fabrics: fleece, linen, cotton
- Threads for sewing
- Threads for embroidery
- Vlieseline (interfacing fabric)
- Polyester filling for stuffing
Supplies
- Sewing machine
- Scissors, Pinking Shears
- Pins
- Needles for hand sewing
- Needles for sewing machine
- Buttons, beads
- Ruler and measuring tape
- Pencil
- Chalk or tailoring marker - air or water soluble marker or marking pencil made for fabric
- Wooden sticks - thick and thin - for turning out and stuffing (e.g., sushi chopsticks or barbecue skewers)
- Iron (not for fleece!)
PLEASE NOTE: this is an approximate list of materials and tools that are needed for making dolls and soft toys. For each fabric doll and soft toys, the materials list may be different. A specific materials list is always attached and included in the sewing pattern. You can choose a cloth doll or a toy that you would like to sew in my shop.
